on for scirrhus of the right breast in 1917. A radical operation with removal of axillary glands was done by Col. R. P. Wilson, i.m.s. She was in a very poor state of health when seen by me, being very weak, emaciated and practically bedridden. Besides spasms of cough, difficulty in swallowing (liquids only) and hoarseness of voice, she had the following symptoms for about a year and half:? (1) Loss of power in both legs. (2) Loss of sensation in both legs. (3) Difficulty in passing stools and urine. On examination the right vocal cord was seen in the cadaveric position. The left cord was normal and freely mobile. A fullness was noticed in the posterior triangle of the neck above the right clavicle, immediately behind the posterior margin of the right sternocleidomastoideus. On palpation, a hard mass of matted glands was felt extending forwards under the sternocleidomastoideus. No operation had been performed

Introduction: Injury to cranial nerves IX, X, and XII is a known complication of laryngoscopy and intubation. Here we present a patient with concurrent hypoglossal and recurrent laryngeal nerve paralysis after rhinoplasty. Case Report: The patient was a 27-year-old woman who was candidate for rhinoplastic surgery. The next morning after the operation, the patient complained of dysphonia and a s...

متن کاملComparison of the Frequency of Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve Injury with and without Exploration of the Nerve in Thyroidectomy
Background & Aims: Surgeons are not willing to participate in thyroid surgeries due to dangerous, although rare, complications of the procedure. Post thyroidectomy complications are divided in early and late onset; hypocalcemia, bleeding, thyroid storm and recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) injury are the most important ones. This study was performed to compare the frequency of recurrent laryngeal...
